MassageBook Manager is compatible with card readers provided directly from Stripe, and you can find more information about the compatible readers here: Which Stripe Devices are Compatible with MassageBook?
Below, you can find steps on connecting the different readers compatible with MassageBook's integration with Stripe:
M2 Reader
Before checkout, you can connect your M2 Stripe reader by following the steps below:
- Select the Menu in the top left corner of the app:
- Select App Settings.
- Select Checkout.
- If you have multiple locations, you will need to select the desired business from the "Checkout" section on the page.
- Select the Hardware section.
- Select Connect.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Push the button on the card reader to enable bluetooth discoverability.
- Select Stripe M2 reader.
Alternatively, you can select the gear icon next to Pay with Stripe during checkout. If following this route, you will begin at step 3 above.
Note: Your business must be connected to your Stripe account from within your MassageBook account prior to beginning checkout (Connecting a New Stripe Account or Connecting an Existing Stripe Account).
Once you have connected your reader to the MassageBook Manager app, you can then take credit card payments in office by following the steps in this article: Checking out an Appointment with Stripe.
Notes:
- Ensure the Stripe account that is connected to your MassageBook account is "operational", up-to-date, ready to take payments and not de-activated by Stripe.
- If you have having issues with connecting the reader to MassageBook Manager, use a paperclip to reset your Stripe reader using the reset button located at the back of the reader, near the USB port. Wait a couple of minutes and then power on the reader again. Then, immediately navigate to the MassageBook Manager app and start from Step 1 above.
- If you get stuck on the "Connecting" page in MassageBook Manager, make sure that your reader is charged. A reader with less than a 10% charge cannot successfully connect to the mobile app. We also recommend keeping your reader fully updated. Stripe readers should automatically update over night if connected to a power source. You can also manually reset the reader to initiate any updates.
- The reader may automatically disconnect or turn off if it has been idle for an extended period of time. The reader does this to save battery and this functionality cannot be disabled. Your device may also disconnect from the reader if the MassageBook Manager app has been idle for too long.

To enable tipping, the Merchant Classification Code on your Stripe account should be "Health and Beauty Spa".

Important: If you set the "Industry" in the business settings of your Stripe Account to "Health and Beauty Spa" - it does not change your MCC. To allow tipping in Stripe, you need to change your MCC to 7298 "Health and Beauty Spa" which can be managed by the Stripe Support Team only.
