Once credit card payments are enabled, Clients will have the option to pre-pay for appointments at the end of online booking.
If you prefer to require pre-payment, in full or a deposit, to reserve the appointment you can set your rules by following the steps below.
Note: Deposit functionality is only available for Amplify subscribers. Transition and Simplify subscribers can still require prepayment in full.
- Business Profile.
- Select Settings.
- Select Online Booking Rules to go to Booking Rules.
- Select Pre-payment Rules.
- To require new Clients to prepay, check Require prepayment for NEW (1st time) Clients booking online.
- To set the minimum prepayment amount required, select Enable online partial pre-payment rules
- Choose % or $ and set the minimum amount due by entering digits in the field provided.
- To require existing Clients to prepay, check Require prepayment for EXISTING (repeat) Clients booking online.
- To set the minimum prepayment amount required, select Enable online partial pre-payment rules
- Choose % or $ and set the minimum amount due by entering digits in the field provided.
- Select Save to set your preferences and to enable prepayment requirements.
Note:
- A Client's card is charged immediately, and the funds are transferred to your bank account.
- A tip can be added during pre-payment when paying in full. The client will have percentages of the total to choose that display automatically (10%, 15%, 20%) or they can choose to enter a custom amount. Tipping is not available when pre-paying a deposit online.
- When a client pre-pays for the appointment, they can choose to store their credit card information. However, that information is currently only available to the client and cannot be accessed by the business.
- A Pre-Paid icon will display on the Client's appointment on the Schedule if paid in full.
- A Minimum Pre-Paid icon will display on the Client's appointment on the Schedule if the minimum was paid during booking.
- As of January 2nd, 2019, if you've chosen to allow new Clients to book through your Business Listing in the MassageBook Search Directory, all new Clients booking through there will be required to prepay in full in order to confirm their appointment. New Clients booking through your MassageBook Business Website will not be required to prepay if you have not activated the setting in Prepayment Rules. They will still have the option to pay in advance or pay after the appointment.
- Clients who are part of a membership in your business will be able to bypass your prepayment and deposit requirements when booking online.
-
Cancelling an appointment with a prepaid deposit DOES NOT issue a refund or supply the client's account with a credit. Any refund or credit will need to be administered manually after cancellation.
-
Partial pre-payment rules do NOT apply to new clients booking through the Directory or through Reserve with Google integration. New clients booking through either of these options will be required to pay the full amount due at the time of booking.
-
Taxes will not be added to partial pre-payments.
- Store Credit cannot be applied to partial pre-payments.
- Partial Prepayment will not display when using the MassageBook Pro mobile app. Businesses that have activated partial prepayment will need to use the mobile desktop site instead of the current mobile app.
-
Tip amounts shown during checkout are based off the total of the current transaction for Square users (i.e. the remaining 50% of a minimum deposit payment) and total price of the service for Stripe users.
-
Clients can also pre-pay for appointments that were booked by the business. The client will log into their client account to pre-pay for any appointments that were booked by the business.
