What is a convenience fee, and how much is it?
A convenience fee helps offset the cost of processing fees your business is charged per card transaction. Your clients will pay an extra $3.85 anytime they pay for a service or gift certificate online via MassageBook, and $3 will go directly to you. MassageBook will receive the additional $.85 and use it to continue building more tools to simplify your day and increase your income.
How will I benefit from convenience fees?
Adding a convenience fee to an online payment will help offset the cost of card processing fees that are applied to the transaction. You may even profit from the $3.00 you receive, depending on the payment amount.
When will this new feature be available?
We plan to release the convenience fees feature in May. Be on the lookout for more updates coming soon.
If I sign up for early access, will MassageBook automatically start charging convenience fees once the feature is available?
Yes, the setting for convenience fees will automatically be activated in your account on the day we release the feature. From then on, your clients will pay an extra $3.85 anytime they pay for a service or gift certificate online.
If I sign up for early access, can I opt out later?
We'll automatically turn on the feature for you if you sign up for early access. However, you can turn it off anytime once it is available in your account. Go to Settings > Online Booking Rules > Pre-payment Rules to set your preferences.
Can I activate the feature later if I don't want to sign up for early access?
Of course! Once the feature is available, you can turn it on or off anytime under Settings > Online Booking Rules > Pre-payment Rules.
Can I adjust the amount of the convenience fee?
No, you cannot adjust the amount. We've set the convenience fee at $3.85, and $3 will go directly to you.
Can I charge convenience fees to new clients only?
Convenience fees apply to all clients paying with a card online. You cannot charge convenience fees based on their new or existing status with your business.
Will clients pay a convenience fee if they use a card to pay for a service or gift certificate in person at my office?
No, convenience fees apply to online transactions only.
If a client purchases a membership online, are they charged a convenience fee?
No, convenience fees do not apply to the purchase of memberships.
What happens if I refund an online payment that includes a convenience fee?
Your client will receive the full payment amount, including the convenience fee.
Can Canadian businesses use the feature?
No, the convenience fee feature is available for US-based businesses only.
