Here are some troubleshooting tips that will help decide whether or not your card reader is defective:
- Ensure that other devices (ex: Flash drive) work in the same USB port. This rules out that the USB port is not defective. If your computer's operating system has not been updated, the USB port could be temporarily shut off.
- Turn off your computer and removing the card reader.
- Turn back on your computer and let it boot. Plug your card reader back in (look for green light on card reader) and open a Microsoft Word document or Notepad text box. Click in the document and swipe your card. Card Data should pull over into the document (it will look odd).
- Try the card reader on another computer/laptop.
